Community Asphalt, founded in 1980 as an asphalt paving contractor, based in Miami, Florida, and part of OHLA USA since 2006, has since become specialized in general road construction and transportation infrastructure. From its four operation and plant facilities in Miami-Dade, Fort Myers, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach, the company boasts extensive geographic coverage throughout South Florida, focusing on all aspects of transportation infrastructure development, primarily for state and local authorities. Community Asphalt continues to provide traditional paving services which include grading and paving, pavement milling, surveying, excavation, on and off-road hauling, drainage, utilities, base finishing, and highway sweeping. The company also provides engineering, contracting, design and build and finance and more complex PPP contracts services. These projects include parking lots, industrial and retail complexes, road and highway construction, and airport runways.
SummaryOur company has an immediate opening for a Loader Operator in West Palm Beach, Fl. The Loader Operator will be responsible for operating a loader to move, transport, and load materials such as dirt, gravel, and asphalt for road construction and paving projects. The operator will ensure safe, efficient, and effective handling of materials to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate the loader to load materials into dump trucks, lay down material in designated areas, and manage material stockpiles.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the loader to ensure it remains in safe working condition.
- Assist in other job site duties as needed, including working alongside other heavy equipment and labor teams.
- Adhere to safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Communicate effectively with the site supervisor and other team members to ensure coordinated operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site to minimize accidents and promote safety.
- Complete daily logs and reports, noting any equipment issues or project progress.
- Follow environmental and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local laws.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating loaders or similar heavy equipment, preferably in construction or paving projects.
- Knowledge of loader controls, operation, and routine maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and job specifications.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA and company regulations.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (Commercial Driver's License preferred but not required).
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions.
- Pass drug test, fit-for duty test and background check.
- SCHEDULE: 7am-5pm & Occasional Weekends - Ability to work flexible schedules such as nights, weekends, and overtime.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work in a physically demanding outdoor environment with potential exposure to heat, dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor construction sites with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Noise levels associated with heavy equipment operation.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- May require extended hours, including nights and weekends, depending on project needs.
