Community Asphalt, founded in 1980 as an asphalt paving contractor, based in Miami, Florida, and part of OHLA USA since 2006, has since become specialized in general road construction and transportation infrastructure. From its four operation and plant facilities in Miami-Dade, Fort Myers, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach, the company boasts extensive geographic coverage throughout South Florida, focusing on all aspects of transportation infrastructure development, primarily for state and local authorities. Community Asphalt continues to provide traditional paving services which include grading and paving, pavement milling, surveying, excavation, on and off-road hauling, drainage, utilities, base finishing, and highway sweeping. The company also provides engineering, contracting, design and build and finance and more complex PPP contracts services. These projects include parking lots, industrial and retail complexes, road and highway construction, and airport runways.
SummaryOur company has an immediate opening for a MOT / Site Foreman in Fort Myers, Fl. The MOT / Site Foreman is a hands-on foreman role where you will be actively involved with your crew, operating equipment, and ensuring the safe and efficient completion of roadway construction projects. This position requires a valid Class E driver’s license and Advanced MOT training, as well as the ability to drive a pickup or MOT truck to and from job sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery, including dozers, excavators, and graders, with skill and precision to meet project specifications and production targets.
- Traffic Control (MOT): Set up, maintain, and adjust traffic control devices (cones, signs, barriers) to ensure safe traffic flow around active construction zones, in accordance with Advanced MOT training requirements.
- Crew Supervision: Lead and provide direction to a crew of 1-4 members, overseeing their work and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Safety Compliance: Follow and enforce safety protocols to create a secure work environment for both crew members and passing traffic.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment, reporting any mechanical issues promptly to the maintenance team.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and control the quality of earthwork and roadway construction activities to meet project standards.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, including operators, laborers, and supervisors, to achieve project goals efficiently.
- Effective Communication: Ensure clear communication with project managers, supervisors, and team members to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues that arise during operations, adapting to changing site conditions and challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily work performed, equipment inspections, and traffic control setups.
- SHIFT: 7AM - 5PM - FLEXIBLE (some nights also required).
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Experience:
- 5+ years in roadway construction or a related field.
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Sitework Foreman (preferred).
- 1+ year(s) of experience in roadway construction and operating dozers, graders, and excavators (preferred).
- Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid Driver's License - Regular Class E (required).
- Advanced MOT Training certification (required).
- Skills: Proficiency with surveying equipment, blueprint reading, and familiarity with traffic control best practices.
Work Environment:
This role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions, including lifting, bending, and the operation of heavy machinery. Strict compliance with Advanced MOT protocols is essential for safety.
