Community Asphalt, founded in 1980 as an asphalt paving contractor, based in Miami, Florida, and part of OHLA USA since 2006, has since become specialized in general road construction and transportation infrastructure. From its four operation and plant facilities in Miami-Dade, Fort Myers, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach, the company boasts extensive geographic coverage throughout South Florida, focusing on all aspects of transportation infrastructure development, primarily for state and local authorities. Community Asphalt continues to provide traditional paving services which include grading and paving, pavement milling, surveying, excavation, on and off-road hauling, drainage, utilities, base finishing, and highway sweeping. The company also provides engineering, contracting, design and build and finance and more complex PPP contracts services. These projects include parking lots, industrial and retail complexes, road and highway construction, and airport runways.

Summary

Our company has an immediate opening for Loader Operator in Fort Myers, Fl. A Loader Operator moves, loads and handles materials in the terminal area with the use of heavy equipment. Will use large earth-moving machines, such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, and frontend loaders and/or other huge machinery to lift, haul, push, roll, load and move aggregate and related materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Operate loader to fill bins with aggregate and other materials essential for asphalt production.
  • Safely maneuver loader in and around the plant, ensuring material flow aligns with production demands.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs, and report any equipment issues to plant management.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment.
  • Assist plant personnel with a variety of tasks that may arise throughout the shift, including material handling, equipment adjustments, and general site organization.
  • Participate in housekeeping efforts to keep plant and loading areas clean and organized, minimizing hazards and downtime.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, maintaining a safe environment for all team members.
  • Other job duties as assigned per on-site supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    • 1-2 years of loader operating experience, preferably in an asphalt plant or similar industrial setting.
  • Skills:

    • Proficient in operating heavy machinery, particularly loaders.
    • Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine equipment maintenance.
    • Strong work ethic and a cooperative approach to handling various plant tasks as needed.
    • Knowledge of Safety/OSHA guidelines and adherence for your safety and others.
    • High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

*** SHIFT: 5:00am - 5:00pm M-F - weekend work as needed

Pass drug test, fit-for duty test and background check.
